Classes

Our classes are:

  • Haddon (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2)
  • Hartington (Years 3 & 4)
  • Hassop (Years 5 & 6)

Being a small, dynamic school, with a good adult to child ratio, means that the class organisation can fluctuate in order to meet the needs of the year groups concerned. We have a variety of teaching areas in addition to classrooms, so that your child has the best environment in which to learn and study. Through verbal and written feedback, our children are continually assessed in their understanding of concepts. We support each child to understand how they learn and how they can progress to the next step.  Our 2022 KS2 SATs results surpassed the National Standard.

We believe that learning should not be restricted to indoors.  At Hague Bar Primary School, we take our learning outside the classroom whenever we can, so the children can benefit from the beautiful Derbyshire surroundings.  Our EYFS/KS1 class has access to the outdoors at all times and in all weathers. Weekly Forest School activities enable children to develop a love of outdoors alongside a whole range of skills which they can take back into the classroom and enhance their learning.

We frequently celebrate all achievements big and small, whether occurring in school or not. Our children enjoy weekly award assemblies with parents and families, certificates, stickers and most importantly a smile and verbal praise.  Pupils at Hague Bar Primary School work on developing their skills in the following areas: physical, environmental, community, creative and leadership. We believe our education not only builds towards a well-rounded child but also towards the adult they will become.

We support many special activities and charitable days.  Recent events have included fundraising for MacMillan Coffee Morning, Children in Need, Jeans for Genes and Save the Children.
